Hi, guys —

I thought you would be able to help me with two people I believe the Lord has put in my path to evangelize.

One is my 28-year-old niece, an actress, who occasionally attends church. She lives in Canada, and when we went up there this summer to see her perform in Summer Stock — one of the plays had some Catholic references (i.e. a priest was administering the last rites to a convicted prisoner).

I commented that I was happy to see that occurring on stage in a secular play in this day and age. She seemed open to that.

  • Is there a book you can recommend for a person her age that might touch her and pull her back into practicing her Catholic faith?

The other person is my newly found hairdresser, a young gal in her 20's. When I mentioned
I attended a local Catholic church here, she said she was not brought up in any faith, and was going to check out an interdenominational church. I invited her to our church, but she didn't seem all that interested.

  • Do you know of a book that would be suitable for such a person that would not overwhelm her or be over her head, since she has no religious background?

Any other suggestions you may have would be appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Betty

Terry replied:

Hi Betty,

I would always recommend "This is the faith" by Canon Francis Ripley.

It is widely available in second hand book stores or easily located by clicking AbeBooks.com
