Hi guys,
I will be in Sweden for a month and will not be able to attend
Sunday Mass or any Catholic Mass while I'm
there. Sweden is a socialist state and their supported religion
is Lutheranism.
They do not have any Catholic Churches
in the area of Ostersund nor perhaps in the country.
- Do I need a dispensation
from the bishop?
- If so, how do I go about getting one?
I plan
on saying my daily prayers and designate a special time
for prayer and reading, (e.g. the Bible [and/or] some other Catholic literature),
on Sundays.
- Is there anything else I can do, and
- Do you
have any suggested prayers or texts I should read on Sundays?

John replied:
Hi, Rosie —
Thanks for your question.
At the bottom of our Mass and Adoration web page we have a link to masstimes.org.
It's our hope this will be a helpful service to our visitors who
need to find a Catholic Mass anywhere in the world:

Thanks John,
If I'm unable to:
- find the church or
- it doesn't hold Masses (e.g. there is no clear
address or Mass times given) or
- if for any other unforeseen reason that
should cause me not to be able to make it to Mass while I'm there:
- Do I need
a dispensation from the bishop?

Eric replied:
Hi Rosie,
In such a situation, where it is impossible or unreasonable to get to
Mass, No, you do not need a dispensation from the bishop.
