Hi Cindy,
In essence the Mass is the Mass no matter what day of the week it is
celebrated.
The form for weekday Masses differs only in that the Liturgy of the Word is shorter.
- On Sundays, we have two readings, typically one from the Old Testament and one from
the New Testament along with a Psalm and the Gospel.
- On weekdays, there is one reading with a Psalm and the Gospel.
On Sundays, the Creed is required as is the Gloria, with seasonal exceptions for the
Gloria, whereas, on weekdays these are both typically omitted.
Additionally, weekday homilies or sermons are shortened for convenience sake. For the most part, weekday Masses are in the morning when people have to get to work, so it's natural to keep them shorter so more folks can attend without being late for work.
Hope this helps,
John
