The argument in favor of Catholicism is its historicity in connection with the Church founded by Jesus Christ.
A fair review of the evidence will confirm the historicity of Christ — that he was indeed a person, not a mythological figure, — then one may use all the historical material, especially the Christian Bible, to determine what He:
- claimed
- taught, and
- created as His legacy.
He did indeed create what we would call an institutional Church when he selected Twelve Apostles and designated one amongst them for a particular role in leadership and unification. (Matthew 16:13-18) By any fair evaluation of the evidence, the only legitimate successor to this institution is the Catholic Church.
